About Us And Our StoryOn Saturday March 31, 2007 Derek had made plans with his friend Jeremy to go to some fish stores in search of a new fish tank. Amy had also made plans with Jeremy to go to a Devil Rays game. Since Jeremy double booked himself, he talked Amy in to joining in on the hunt for a new fish tank. During the afternoon, Amy made a comment about her boyfriend (referring to her ex, but not specifying the ex part). This discouraged Derek a little. After going to a couple of fish stores the group decided to go to the mall and get something to eat. Once there Derek made a comment that Amy and Jeremy's phones had been ringing all day but that no one was calling him. Partially as a joke and partially out of sympathy Amy called Derek so he "wouldn't feel left out". But in reality, this had been Derek's plan to get her number. Later that night a friend of Derek's was having a get-together. Derek asked if Amy would like to join them for the night. She said "yes" and followed Derek and Jeremy to the party. After a few hours they all left in separate cars. On the ride home, Derek asked Jeremy if Amy had a boyfriend. Jeremy said "no" and Derek explained about the boyfriend comment that Amy had made. This prompted Jeremy call Amy to confirm if she was single or not. She said she was single. Because Jeremy called her like this it was very obvious that Derek was interested in her. Over the next few days they spent their evenings talking on the phone all night before going to bed. On Thursday April 5th, 2007 Derek went over to her place to watch a movie and they ended up staying up all night watching movies and TV shows. The next day they both had to work and met back up at a Devil Rays game. Ever since that day Derek has been over at Amy's place nearly all the time. Key dates:
